Absorption spectra of AA-stacked graphite
نویسندگان
چکیده
AA-stacked graphite shows strong anisotropy in geometric structures and velocity matrix elements. However, the absorption spectra are isotropic for the polarization vector on the graphene plane. The spectra exhibit one prominent plateau at middle energy and one shoulder structure at lower energy. These structures directly reflect the unique geometric and band structures and provide sufficient information for experimental fitting of the intralayer and interlayer atomic interactions. On the other hand, monolayer graphene shows a sharp absorption peak but no shoulder structure; AA-stacked bilayer graphene has two absorption peaks at middle energy and abruptly vanishes at lower energy. Furthermore, the isotropic features are expected to exist in other graphene-related systems. The calculated results and the predicted atomic interactions could be verified by optical measurements. 3 Authors to whom any correspondence should be addressed. Electronic Properties of AA- and ABC-Stacked Few-Layer Graphites
The low-energy electronic properties of a few graphite layers with AA and ABC stacking under application of the electric field (F), perpendicular to the layers, are explored through the tight-binding model. They strongly depend on the interlayer interactions, the stacking sequences, the layer numbers, and the field strength. In the absence or presence of F, the AA-stacked N-layer graphites (N 1...
متن کاملPhotoelectron Holographic Atomic Arrangement Imaging of Cleaved Bimetal-intercalated Graphite Superconductor Surface
From the C 1s and K 2p photoelectron holograms, we directly reconstructed atomic images of the cleaved surface of a bimetal-intercalated graphite superconductor, (Ca, K)C8, which differed substantially from the expected bulk crystal structure based on x-ray diffraction (XRD) measurements. Graphene atomic images were collected in the in-plane cross sections of the layers 3.3 Å and 5.7 Å above th...
متن کاملDetection of the “ 44 μ m ” band of water ice in absorption in combined ISO SWS - LWS spectra ?
We report the detection of the transverse optical vibrational band of water ice at 44 μm in absorption towards two embedded infrared sources, IRAS 18316–0602 (RAFGL7009S) and IRAS 19110+1045. The water band extending from 30 to about 80 μm is a prominent feature in the combined ISO SWS and LWS grating spectra. Using new optical constants for amorphous and crystalline water ice, we have modeled ...
متن کاملStudy of the growth of NiO on highly oriented pyrolytic graphite by X-ray absorption spectroscopy
In this work, we present a X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) study of the growth of NiO on highly oriented pyrolytic graphite (HOPG). NiO as been grown by reactive evaporation of metallic Ni in an oxygen atmosphere (2× 10−5 Torr) at room temperature. We paid special attention to he study of the early stages of growth. Both, Ni 2p and O 1s core-level XAS spectra were measured. For large NiO co...
متن کاملDEVELOPMENT OF A METHOD FOR ALUMINIUM DETERMINATION IN SERUM AND DIALYSIS FLUID BY FLAMELESS ATOMIC ABSORPTION WITH GRAPHITE FURNACE
Aluminium determination was carried out in serum and dialysis fluid by a simple and reliable method of nameless atomic absorption with graphite furnace . . No preparatory procedures are required for water and dialysis fluid. In this method serum was mixed with 0.2% HNO, to allow complete combustion of the samples in order to improve analytical precision. The method has a sensitivity of 15 p...
